The Foo Fighters Rick-Roll Tokyo And It's Amazing

Fans at Tokyo's Summersonic Festival thought they were about to see a historic set from headlining act the Foo Fighters when the band began to play the opening riff to Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," but the performance wound up being memorable for a different reason - the Foos were doing an epic live Rick-roll.

The crowd should've known something was up before it began because singer Dave Grohl said, "Ladies and gentlemen, would you please welcome our new best friend, Rick Astley. This is f***ing crazy. I just met him two minutes ago." Rick came out and yelled, "Come on you motherf***ers."

Grohl said "I gotta remember how you do it" then began his former band's classic, only to interrupt it and play Astley's hit "Never Gonna Give You Up."

It's not the band's first time having fun with the song either. Two years ago when they were playing in Kansas City, the controversial Westboro Baptist Church protested the gig so the Foos disrupted their hateful shouts by rolling through in a pickup truck blasting "Never Gonna Give You Up."
